New in 2024, the CLARB Annual Meeting took place immediately following an ASLA + CLARB Licensure Summit and continuing education opportunity providing a week of professional development and engagement around landscape architecture licensure.

ASLA + CLARB Licensure Summit

Co-hosted by CLARB and ASLA, this event was designed to unite ASLA chapters and landscape architectural licensure boards from across the United States and Canada.

The summit’s theme, “Empowering Opportunity,” was about enhancing standards, empowering stakeholders and educating others in order to shape the future of landscape architecture licensure. Topics include:

  • Defending Licensure in a Deregulation Era
  • Enlisting Champions: Strategic Volunteer Recruitment
  • Understanding the CLARB Uniform Standard and Messaging Workshop
  • Multiple Pathways to Licensure
  • Navigating Legal Landscapes: Best Practices for Statutory and Regulatory Changes

CLARB Annual Meeting

At the 2024 CLARB Annual Meeting, we turned “Opportunity into Action” by taking proactive steps to capitalize on emerging opportunities within landscape architecture regulation. The comprehensive agenda featured a wide array of topics that align with the responsibilities and challenges facing the future of regulation in our field, including:

  • Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on Practice and Regulation
  • Exploring Specialty Credentials: Enhancing Public Health, Safety and Welfare Beyond Licensure
  • Future of Landscape Architecture Education
  • Impacts of STEM Designation for Landscape Architecture: What’s Next?

Additionally, CLARB Members had the opportunity to provide input on these high-impact projects:

  • ICOR Practice Overlap – Weighed in on an approach to provide guidance to regulatory boards on overlapping practice between landscape architects, architects, engineers, surveyors and interior designers.
  • CLARB Bylaws Review – Provided input on potential approaches for improving CLARB governance structure and processes to ensure effective leadership for the future.
