Monica currently serves as a director-at-large on the Board of Directors, with her second term beginning in 2023. As a member of the Board of Directors, she has been active in collaborating with organizations outside the United States. Her experience volunteering with the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) for many years has given her extensive international experience regarding the profession of landscape architecture and its situation in different regions and countries. Her perspective as a non-North American practitioner offers an additional viewpoint that broadens the approach to certain situations.
Monica is a landscape architect who graduated from the program at UNAM in Mexico and is among the first generations, the pioneers who have opened the field for upcoming generations. She has collaborated as a project coordinator in various offices, including Grupo de Diseño Urbano (GDU/ Mario Schjetnan) and TYMSA, where she was recognized for her leadership and capability. She has co-participated with UNAM in two large-scale park projects and now has her own practice.
