In 2024, several states introduced legislation to merge landscape architecture boards with other professions. Utah successfully combined its landscape architecture board with its architecture board, while similar proposals in Iowa and New Hampshire were introduced but did not pass.
This trend continues in 2025 with board consolidation proposals in Florida and Nevada seeking to merge landscape architecture licensure into multi-disciplinary boards.
CLARB recognizes that both autonomous and consolidated boards have unique benefits depending on each jurisdiction’s needs. We provide resources, guidance and insights to help member boards navigate these changes while ensuring that landscape architecture remains recognized and effectively regulated.
