Upholding standards in professional development

CLARB appoints volunteers to represent the organization on three LA CES committees. These volunteers play a vital role in upholding the standards for continuing education in the profession and supporting licensure through high-quality professional development opportunities.

About

The Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LA CES) is a collaborative program that establishes, maintains and enforces high-quality standards for evaluating professional development and continuing education programs for landscape architects. LA CES is administered by leading landscape architecture organizations including:

  • American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA)
  • Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA)
  • Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA)
  • Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB)
  • Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB)
  • Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF)

The mission of the LA CES program is to assure landscape architects and licensing boards that courses provided by LA CES approved providers are of sufficient quality. Only providers that have met LA CES requirements may register courses with LA CES. Registered courses cover a broad range of subject matter and providers are required to identify those courses that meet the LA CES standard of health, safety, and welfare subject matter.

Responsibilities

As a collaborative program, LA CES relies on the active involvement of each partner organization. CLARB volunteers serve on three key committees — Administrative, Application Review and Monitoring — to provide oversight, review applications and ensure providers meet established quality standards.
