Rip currently serves as a LA CES representative, with his term beginning in 2023. His CLARB service began 30 years ago on the Exam Committee. He then served as chair of the Grading and Drainage Graphic Committee until 2010 and was a member of multiple Grading and Cut Score sessions. Rip is also currently the CLARB representative to the ASLA LARE Committee.
Rip graduated from Louisiana State University with a Master of Landscape Architecture and began his career in Birmingham, Alabama. His varied work experience has ranged from military base design and urban planning to serving as town landscape architect for one of the largest New Urbanist communities in the Southeast. He was executive director of Aldridge Gardens, a city-owned botanical garden in Hoover, Alabama, for 11 years prior to his current position as Hoover’s city landscape architect.
