About
The Presidents Council is an informal working group composed of the staff and elected leadership from the regulatory, educational and professional organizations within the landscape architecture profession. Member organizations include:
- American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA)
- Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA)
- Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA)
- Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB)
- Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB)
- Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF)
Together these organizations provide a comprehensive perspective on the landscape architecture profession — spanning licensure, education, advocacy and practice. The Presidents Council offers a forum for collaboration on issues of shared importance and a platform for coordinated action to benefit the profession.
Mission
The Presidents Council exists to foster alignment and collaboration among the leading organizations in landscape architecture. Its mission is to uphold strong professional standards, address challenges impacting the profession and support initiatives that strengthen and advance landscape architecture in the United States, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands and Canada.
Key areas of shared focus include licensure, the health of the profession, diversity and inclusion, and climate change.
Areas of Collaboration
As a founding member of the Presidents Council, CLARB brings the voice of licensure and regulation to this vital collaboration. CLARB contributes data-driven insights, supports alignment across jurisdictions and helps ensure that public protection remains central to the advancement of the profession.
Through this partnership, CLARB works with peer organizations to identify and address emerging trends, develop shared strategies, and promote the mobility and integrity of licensed landscape architects. By working together, the Presidents Council strengthens the profession’s ability to respond to complex challenges and shape a more resilient, equitable and sustainable future.
