Partnerships
We're proud to partner with other groups to expand access to licensure for underrepresented candidates through financial support, education and advocacy initiatives.
GI Bill benefits for veterans
U.S. veterans can use their GI Bill benefits to reimburse costs associated with taking the Landscape Architect Registration Examination (L.A.R.E.). CLARB is an approved institution by the Department of Veterans Affairs, allowing eligible veterans to seek reimbursement for examination fees.
Our partnership with NAMLA
CLARB and the National Association of Minority Landscape Architects (NAMLA) share a commitment to expanding access within the profession. Together we collaborate on initiatives that remove barriers to licensure and promote greater diversity in landscape architecture. CLARB proudly supports NAMLA’s work through programs like L.A.R.E. preparation grants and ongoing efforts to advance accessible pathways into the profession.
Licensure Advancement Program
CLARB is proud to serve as a founding, lead sponsor of ASLA’s Licensure Advancement Program, which seeks to support people in their pursuit of landscape architecture licensure and increase diversity of backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences within the profession.
Todd Reade Canadian L.A.R.E. Support Program
Named in memory of Todd Reade who passed away in 2022, CLARB provides matching support to the Alberta Association of Landscape Architects, BC Society of Landscape Architects, Manitoba Association of Landscape Architects and the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects through the Todd Reade Canadian L.A.R.E. Support Program. The program provides financial support to Canadian candidates who are preparing for or actively taking the L.A.R.E. Reade served as executive director of the Alberta Association of Landscape Architects and as a CLARB volunteer.

Our partnership with BlackLAN
CLARB included the Black Landscape Architects Network partnership in the development of the Exam Determinants of Success Study and we have committed to expanding our support of BlackLAN’s efforts to increase the visibility, support the interests and foster the impact of Black practitioners in landscape architecture.
Our partnership with CELA
We work with the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) to advance licensure and strengthen the connection between academic and professional practice. Together we promote licensure among full-time faculty and students in CELA member programs, share key updates at each organization’s membership meetings, and explore collaborative opportunities in research, education and continuing education. This partnership encourages active engagement across the academic and regulatory communities to support the future of landscape architecture.
Licensure support programs
Other organizations offer financial support for exam candidates as well. We encourage you to explore all available options as you pursue your path to licensure.
Employer benefits
Many firms and employers offer support to help their employees achieve licensure. These benefits may include study groups, resource libraries, paid leave, and financial reimbursement for exam registration fees, study materials, application costs and CLARB Record fees. Some employers also provide bonuses upon successful licensure. We encourage you to check with your employer to learn what benefits may be available to you.
Anova Grant Competition
With initial support from CLARB, Anova created a L.A.R.E. grant competition program to help individuals achieve the legal recognition of becoming a licensed landscape architect.
Virginia Pennock Scholarship
The CAAPPR (Colegio de Arquitectos y Arquitectos Paisajistas de Puerto Rico) offers this scholarship toward exam fees for landscape architects in training (LAITs) in Puerto Rico.
