UPDATE JULY 21, 2020:

We are aware that some candidates are receiving notices from Pearson VUE to reschedule their exam appointments for the August administration. This is due to COVID-19 restrictions on a local level as the pandemic continues to affect test center operations at both traditional and third-party test centers. We encourage you to follow any instructions Pearson VUE sends for your specific exam appointment and contact CLARB if you have any difficulty rescheduling your exam. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. We look forward to continuing to work with you on your path to licensure.

UPDATE MONDAY, MAY 18, 2020:

Local requirements for essential-only exams, reduced capacity, and social distancing due to COVID-19 in some jurisdictions continue to affect the upcoming L.A.R.E. administration.

For any candidate who has an appointment scheduled in JUNE
Please check your email for a message from CLARB today, May 18, 2020!
(If you use Gmail, check your filtered inboxes too!)

For all candidates registered or planning to register for AUGUST

CLARB has been working diligently with Pearson VUE to develop the best possible solutions to accommodate all candidates who would like to test, while following local governmental restrictions and recommendations for public safety.

Through these efforts, we now have two exciting updates to share!

First, the August administration has been extended again to add additional testing dates to offer more options for you to test. The newly extended August L.A.R.E. administration will be August 1-September 19! Exam results will still be available 4 weeks after the final day of the administration, so please note if you test in August, your wait for results will be longer.

Second, CLARB and Pearson VUE have made additional test centers available to our L.A.R.E. candidates. These test centers are considered third party, run by third-party companies, and an agreement has been made to allow CLARB candidates to test at the centers during this unprecedented time. Please be aware that these centers are currently only available for test dates in August and September and may not be available for future administrations. There are important differences in the types of test centers available - please click through to our test center page to learn more.

As always, CLARB is committed to supporting all candidates through each administration. If you run into issues registering or scheduling an appointment, please contact us.

August L.A.R.E. Administration

Registration opens May 11!

UPDATE MONDAY, APRIL 27, 2020:

Unfortunately, Pearson VUE has extended closures of all U.S. and Canadian-based test centers through May 31st. With limited current capacity at test centers, we do not anticipate we will be able to find new June appointments for candidates who either had an appointment scheduled for May or who did not yet have an appointment scheduled.

Because of this, CLARB is moving all candidates without appointments to the August administration. We will complete this process today, April 27. You will receive an email no later than Wednesday, April 29 from CLARB with instructions on how to schedule your appointment with Pearson VUE.

We have extended the August administration window to try to mitigate any residual capacity issues at the test centers as a result of COVID-19. The new testing window for the next administration will be August 1 – August 22.

We hosted a Q&A session on Tuesday April 28. Click here to watch the recording.

If you are unable to take the transferred exam(s) during the August administration, please reach out to us for assistance by emailing (info@clarb.org) or calling our office (571-432-0332).

We understand that this has been a challenging experience for everyone, and we look forward to continuing to work with you on your journey to licensure.

UPDATE FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2020:

While there is reduced capacity in Pearson VUE testing centers due to COVID-19 response to ensure proper social distancing and sanitization, the vast majority of candidates have been able to secure appointments for the make-up administration. We remain optimistic that we will be able to accommodate the remaining candidates that wish to test in this administration in the coming weeks. We will continue to keep you updated and appreciate your patience as we work with Pearson VUE to get the remaining candidates scheduled.

UPDATE MONDAY, MARCH 30, 2020:

CLARB has been following the news of the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, throughout North America. Out of an abundance of caution and concern for our exam candidates, the decision was made to postpone the April L.A.R.E. exam dates.

CLARB and its test center partner, Pearson VUE, have identified May 23 - June 14 as the “make-up” administration window.

All candidates with a current registration for the April administration will be automatically registered for the make-up administration and can begin scheduling appointment(s) through Pearson VUE immediately.

While CLARB fully expects the L.A.R.E. to be administered during this “make-up” window, we will continue to work within the recommendations of Pearson VUE and follow CDC guidelines to ensure the safety of our exam candidates, test center staff, and the public.  If continued circumstances make it so the “make-up” window cannot happen as scheduled, CLARB will notify all candidates and this administration will not be rescheduled.

UPDATED MARCH 16, 2020:
We are reaching out to all candidates registered for the April L.A.R.E. administration with an important update related to the upcoming exam administration. CLARB has been following the news of the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, throughout North America. It is out of an abundance of caution and concern for our exam candidates that we have made the decision to postpone the April L.A.R.E. exam dates of March 23-April 4.

Our staff is working with our test center provider, Pearson VUE, to identify a new administration window that works within both capacity of the test centers and protects the safety of all candidates, staff, local communities and the public. As soon as a testing window has been identified, CLARB will notify you with instructions to schedule your appointment(s) with Pearson VUE.

All current exam appointments will be canceled and you will receive an email directly from Pearson VUE notifying you of your exam appointment cancellation.

Your exam registration(s) will be carried over into the postponed "make-up" exam administration. No candidate who is currently registered for the L.A.R.E. will need to re-register. You will receive information regarding the new administration window and cancellation deadline as soon as they are available. If you choose to cancel your registration out of concerns surrounding COVID-19 or due to scheduling difficulties within the new exam administration, all cancellation fees will be waived and a full refund will be granted. Unfortunately, CLARB will not be able to re-register any candidates if a cancellation is requested.

We understand this announcement is inconvenient, however CLARB’s main goal is to protect the public, the candidates, and all the staff involved in the administration of the exam. CLARB is continuing to follow the guidance of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and we appreciate your understanding.

CLARB will continue to update you via email and through this page so you can find the most up-to-date information on our contingency planning for the exam and frequently asked questions regarding the “make-up” administration for the L.A.R.E.

Thank you for your patience as we work through the details for the "make-up" administration of the exam. We send our best wishes for safety and health for you, your families, and your colleagues, as we navigate this unprecedented time.
