Getting Started

The first step in the examination process is determining where you want to get your initial landscape architect license. The application processes, eligibility requirements, deadlines, fees, etc. are all dependent upon where you want to be licensed. Most people obtain their initial license in the jurisdiction (state or province) in which they live or work. Others may choose to apply for initial licensure in a jurisdiction in which they meet the eligibility requirements.

Applying to take the L.A.R.E.

The following states/provinces have adopted the CLARB Council Record as the application for the L.A.R.E. If the state/province in which you wish to become licensed is not shown below, please contact the local state/provincial board to inquire if they will accept a CLARB Council Record for application for the L.A.R.E. or if you must apply directly to that Board.
